This Shop Cut the Roof off a Land Rover Defender

December 28, 2021 By Nadeem Muaddi

Land Rover won’t build a Defender convertible — so Heritage Customs is stepping up.

The Netherlands’ premier vehicle customization shop specializes in designing and building bespoke Defenders, which they dub “Valiance.” They are all high performance and super luxury.

Currently, Land Rover only manufactures a closed-cabin Defender. But Heritage decided to shake things up by chopping off the roof and replacing it with a semi-electric retractable soft top.

Of course, the Valiance convertible is fully tricked out. Among its many features are custom upholstery, a hand stitched hood and tonneau cover, unique body mods and bespoke wheels. It’s also offered in three eye-catching colors: Côte d’Azur (blue), Solihull Sand (green) and Kokkini Paralia (red).

“Open air driving takes on a new persona in this…bespoke Convertible,” Heritage says on its website. “As well as the bold silhouette you’ve come to expect, the Heritage Customs Valiance Convertible roof takes craftsmanship one step further.”

For now, Heritage is only manufacturing five models, offered for $160,000 each. That’s more than three times the price of the Defender 90, on which the Valiance convertible is based.

But if you have the cash and the desire for a super luxury convertible SUV, it doesn’t get much better than this. Surely, five princes in Dubai will agree.
