Time Warp: GM Windsor Trim Plant 2

October 14, 2013 By Nadeem Muaddi

Auto Upholstery - The Hog Ring - General Motors Windsor

Our previous post titled “Time Warp: General Motors Windsor Trim Plant” proved so popular with The Hog Ring community that we decided to look for even older photographs from within the plant. We weren’t disappointed.

Above is an article from the December 31, 1968 issue of the Windsor Star, and below are a few photos from its archives. We hope that you’ll enjoy them.

These are some very impressive pictures. Growing up in Detroit I had the pleasure of seeing this first had, which is why I do what I do today. I am only a 1 person shop but I want to keep our trade in the US going. I have taught over 500 students and hope to continue, whether it’s at my shop our yours. Thank you for sharing this. I so wish I had some of the machine from that factory.
I found out in 1992 that I had family that worked at this plant. I was adopted and could never figure out why I loved sewing and doing upholstery. But when I located my birth family it became clear to me. I have 7 generations of sewers/seamstresses and upholsterer’s in my family.

Sad to see it gone even now.
