These Sneakers Were Designed to Look Like the Lexus IS

The Hog Ring - These Sneakers Were Designed to Look Like the Lexus IS

Lexus and streetwear brand RTFKT collaborated to create a sneaker inspired by the 2021 Lexus IS — and it looks pretty awesome!

The shoe takes its design cues from the IS 350 F Sport Dynamic Handling Package, which features bold colors, slimmer headlights and a carbon fiber spoiler, among other elements.

“We wanted to make sure when the audience looks at the sneaker they instantly know it is the IS,” Chris Le, creative director and co-founder of RTFKT, said in a statement.

Steven Zaptio, CEO and co-founder of RTFKT, called the design a “neck breaker.”

To design the sneaker, RTFKT made a custom sole that resembles a tire tread, and built the shoe up from there. The top is colored Grecian Water Blue, a new color offered by Lexus. The front features elements inspired by the IS’ signature spindle grille and carbon fiber spoiler. The sides are made from Black NuLuxe and include light gray stitching similar to those on the vehicle’s seats, as well as a middle silver stripe inspired by the headlights. Lastly, the shoe dons Lexus and F SPORT branding.

“RTFKT put the same passion into developing this one-of-a-kind shoe that we did in developing the new 2021 Lexus IS,” said Vinay Shahani, vice president of Lexus marketing. “Steven and Chris delivered a head-turning sneaker that unmistakably mirrors the bold design and impressive performance of the IS.”

RTFKT and entertainment media company Complex documented the creation process in a three-part video series titled “Rubber & Sole.”

It’s definitely a unique looking shoe. The question is: Would you rock it?

Great shoes. These shoe kind of remind me of dunks. These really stylish and comfortable sneakers are for any situation and in any weather. True, when buying such shoes, you should pay attention to whether they are original.
