The Hog Ring - Sage Automotive Interiors to Bring 95 New Jobs to SC

Sage Automotive Interiors, a producer of automotive interior fabrics, is expanding its production facility in Abbeville County, South Carolina, and creating 95 new jobs.

The company will invest $10.45 million in its Sharon Plant, according to a press release. The expansion will allow Sage to continue its work producing materials for vehicle seating, door panels, headliners and other interior surfaces. Their primary clients are OEM manufacturers.

Last month, Sage Automotive Interiors announced a partnership with Natural Fiber Welding, a producer of a plastic-free, plant-based leather alternatives for car interiors. Together, they’ll work to introduce a new faux leather made from natural fibers to the auto industry.

“Our decision to expand and invest in our Sharon Plant underscores our unwavering dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our customers in the automotive industry. This project not only solidifies our commitment to innovation but also demonstrates our confidence in the future of automotive manufacturing in South Carolina,” said Chris Heard, Sage’s president and CEO.

Gov. Henry McMaster said he’s grateful for the additional jobs the expansion will bring to the state.

“South Carolina is grateful for the economic impact that Sage Automotive Interiors has on Abbeville County. News of this expansion and the additional 95 jobs is a major victory for Abbeville and is certainly worth celebrating.”

Sage is owned by Asahi Kasei Group, a multinational Japanese chemical company.
